How to – make stunning rustic patriotic decor easy with Bowdabra

Hi everyone! I’m Lisa from The Rustic Vine, and today, as part of the Bowdabra Design Team, we’re making a rustic patriotic decor piece. It’s a fun DIY project, so grab your supplies and let’s  start

Supplies needed:

1” x10” strips matching/patterned Red and white materials
1”x4-5” strips matching/patterned blue material
6” embroidery hoop
Large Bowdabra
Jute or Bowdabra Bow Wire
A handful of Raffia
5-6 pieces of 1/2” strips of the strips of red, white and blue materials
2 small stands of craft pearls
4 wooden star cut outs for embellishments

Optional for a tag:
Scrap piece of card stock
Small tag size printout that says God bless America
Hot glue
Mod podge
Small cross
Distressing ink

Instructions:

First, line up your red, white, and blue fabric scraps in the shape of a flag. Attach the strips together with some glue.

Next, place the prepared flag piece in an embroidery hoop and secure. Turn to the back and trim off any excess fabaric pieces.

Glue some wooden star pieces onto the decor front.

Now, using some card stock create a tag with the words of your choice.

Make the bow:

Cut a piece of jute or Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half and place it in the Bowdabra. Then, lay in a bunch of raffia. Then using leftover strips of the same fabric that you used for the flag and lay them in the Bowdabra in an X pattern.

Finally, add some string pearls. Thread the loose jute strings or bow wire through the loop and pull tight for a slip knot.  Turn to the back and tie a knot.

Use the leftover jute or bow wire to tie the bow to the screw fastenener at the top of the hoop and make a loop for hanging.

Add embellishments to the tag and glue it to the bottom of your rustic patriotic decor!  Easy and adorable!
