Lavender Shoe Sachets: A Sweet Mother’s Day Gift You Can Make

Mothers deserve gifts that feel thoughtful, personal, and full of love—and a handmade lavender shoe sachet will check every box. They’re simple to sew, wonderfully fragrant, and absolutely charming tucked into a pair of shoes—or even a dresser drawer, suitcase, or closet. Using cotton fabric, dried lavender buds, and a sweet Mini Bowdabra bow, you can create your own giftable sachets. This is a beginner‑friendly project with a polished finish.Lavender Shoe Sachets (Pinterest)

Gather These Materials:

  • Cotton fabric (lightweight woven cotton works best)
  • Shoe Sachet Pattern
  • Scissors or rotary cutter
  • Sewing machine, needle and thread, or hot glue and glue gun
  • Straight pins or clips
  • Dried lavender buds
  • Small funnel or paper cone
  • Mini Bowdabra
  • Bowdabra bow wire
  • ⅛” satin ribbon

Let’s Make the Lavender Shoe Sachet:

  1. Cut Out the Fabric

  • Print and cut out the pattern.
  • Fold your cotton fabric wrong sides together.
  • Pin the pattern pieces in place and cut two identical pieces for each sachet (four pieces total for a pair).Pin Pattern Pieces to Fabric
  • Optional: Add a small patch or piece of lace to the front of one of the pattern pieces—centered and about 2½” from the top.Add Motif to Front Piece (Optional)
  1. Join the Sachet Pieces

  • With fabric pieces wrong sides together, join the edges, leaving the top open. You can use a sewing machine, hand-stitching, hot glue, or fabric glue. If you’re using glue, let it dry completely before moving to the next steps.
  • Sew around the edges using a ½” seam allowance. With Wrong Sides Together Join Pieces Leaving Top Open
  1. Fill with Lavender

  • Use a small funnel or rolled paper cone to pour dried lavender buds into the sachet.Use a Funnel to Fill the Sachets with Lavender Buds
  • Leave about ¾” at the top unfilled for gathering and closing.
  • To close the sachet, fold a 12” to 15” length of bow wire in half. Lay the sachet on top of the bow wire.Lay Filled Sachet on a Folded Length of Bow Wire
  • Pass the ends through the loop. Pull up tightly and tie a knot on the reverse side of the bundle.Pass Wire Ends through Loop

  • Tie the pair together with a coordinating ribbon.
  • Slip them into a small gift box with tissue paper.
  • Add a handwritten tag explaining the calming benefits of lavender.
  • Pair them with a matching eye pillow or lavender drawer sachet for a themed gift set.
