How to Make Clothespin Stars to Spark Up Your July 4th Celebration

Celebrate Fourth of July with these patriotic clothespin stars. Use them separately as decorations or string them together to form a banner. Let  your imagination guide you.Fourth of July Clothespin Stars

These are the supplies you’ll need:

  • Pinch type clothespins—five for each star
  • Liquid craft glue
  • Hot glue
  • Red, white, and blue acrylic paints
  • Red, white, and blue cardstock
  • Red, white, and blue buttons
  • Twine or very narrow ribbon
  • Circle templates

Let’s make clothespin stars:

  1. Disassemble the clothespins.Disassemble Clothespin
  2. Glue the ends of the clothespin halves together to form the points of the star.Clothespins Glued to Form Star Points
  3. Arrange the points in a star shape, and glue together as shown below.Arrange Points and Glue in Place
  4. Paint the stars. Set aside to dry.Paint the Stars
  5. Use twine or narrow ribbon to tie a bow on a button.Tie Bow on Buttons
  6. Trace the circle templates onto cardstock and cut out.
  7. Glue a button from Step 5 onto a cardstock circle.Glue Button to Cardstock Center
  8. Glue the button embellishment to the center of one of the stars.Glue Button Embellishment to Center of Star
  9. Tie twine or fish line to one of the star points for hanging.
