Learn how to make an adorable up-cycled scrap ribbon shoelace scrappy bow using the Bowdabra—with Sandy Sandler! In this quick, easy DIY tutorial, Sandy shows you how to use scrap ribbon pieces and design a bow perfect for spring and summer décor.
Supplies:
• 2 1/2-3 yards of two different coordinating ribbons 2.5″ wide wired
• Bowdabra Bow Wire
• Large Bowdabra
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Find the center of a piece of ribbon and scrunch it right side down into the Bowdabra. Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down. Make sure the loops are the same size and adjust if necessary.
Repeat this step with another ribbon. Make the loops just a little bit smaller than the previous loops.
Repeat this again two more times with different color and width ribbons. Each time making the loops a little smaller than the previous ones.
Finish by making another shoelace bow with other scrap ribbon.
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
It is so easy to use up your leftover ribbons to mak this adorable scrappy bow that can be used in a multitude of ways.
