How to Make a Patriotic Summer Door Swag – Easy & Festive DIY

In this easy DIY video, Bowdabra® creator, Sandy Sandler, shows you how to make this beautiful patriotic summer door swag step-by-step using the Bowdabra®! This eye-catching bow is perfect for adding a festive touch to your front door, entryway, wreaths, and more.

Supplies Needed

• 2 yards of 21” wide deco mesh
• 1 rose bush
• 2 filler flower bushes
• 2 yards of 2.5” wide Wave the Flag Ribbon
• 2 yards of #4100 Wired Lamé Ribbon, 2.5” Royal Blue
• 1.5 yards of 1.5” Wave the Flag Ribbon
• 18” strip of 4” wide wired matching ribbon
• Large Bowdabra
• Bowdabra Bow Wire

Instructions:

First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire.  Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side.  This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.

Next, roll the end of the mesh under so that any fraying is hidden. Then scrunch it from the center into the Bowdabra. When you get to the end, roll it under as well.

Now, place some flowers and filler flowers right into the Bowdabra.

Now, make a shoelace bow with the Wave the flag ribbon. To make a shoelace bow, find the center of the ribbon and scrunch it down into the Bowdabra.  Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down.

Make another shoelace bow with the blue lame ribbon. Repeat this once again with the 1 /2″ wide wave the flag ribbon.

Finish with a 4″ wide red ribbon by making a scrunchy bow. Insert from the top and scrunch down like an accordion.

Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.  Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot.  Tie a double knot for extra security.

Fluff and arrange the bow by pulling apart the loops and adjusting the florals. You have a delightful patriotic summer door swag to display all summer for the semiquincentennial!
