Sandy Sandler, the creator of the Bowdabra is here to show you an easy hack to make a gorgeous stacked farmhouse bow in just minutes. It’s fun and easy using several different bow styles in one big farmhouse bow. Using this technique the bow is big and beautiful without using a lot of ribbon!
Materials:
3 yards – 7527.60/10-609 Texas Two Step Ribbon 2-1/2 in Red
1.5 yards – 7527.60/10-609 Texas Two Step Ribbon 1-1/2 in Red
2 yards – 7284.60/10-613 Cow Print Ribbon 2-1/2 in Black/White
2.5 yards – 7281.60/10-609 Barn House Chic Ribbon 2 1/2 in Natural/Red
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, dovetail the ends of a bandana print ribbon and place it in the Bowdabra for the tails. Then with some more of the same ribbon create a traditional twist and fold bow. Twist and scrunch in the ribbon, then, bring the ribbon across and scrunch down, twist, and repeat. Continue making loops back and forth twisting and scrunching down into the Bowdabra. Make sure the wrong sides are always on the inside of the bow.
Next, create a funky bow style bow. Using the cow print ribbon fold lengths of ribbon in half with a loop on one side and two tails on the other like an awareness ribbon. Then, place them in the Bowdabra alternating the sides of loops and tails.
Using the barn print ribbon place in two pieces of ribbon, one facing up and the other facing down.
Now use the longer length of the barn print ribbon to make another fold and twist bow.
To finish, use the bandana ribbon to make a shoelace bow. Find the center of the ribbon and scrunch it down into the Bowdabra. Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down.
Finishing the bow:
End with a button loop using the cow print ribbon. Scrunch it in the Bowdabra making a small loop and leaving a tail.
Be sure to dovetail all the tails. To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold.
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Shape and arrange the bow pulling all the loops open and pulling down the tails. You have the most beautiful stacked farmhouse bow to use in all you décor applications, wreaths, and gift wraps.
