Here’s the supplies that you’ll need:

  • Scraps of colored paper or cardstock in your choice of colors
  • Packing tape
  • Paper punch
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery floss, narrow ribbon, yarn, or twine

Let’s make a confetti bookmark:

  1. Cut a length of packing tape a few inches longer than you want your finished bookmark. Lay this tape sticky side up on your work surface.
  2. Use a paper punch to punch a puddle of confetti from the colored papers.
  3. Sprinkle the punches on the strip of packing tape.Place Punches on Packing Tape
  4. Cover the tape and punches with a second strip of packing tape, and trim the ends.Cover with Second Strip of Packing Tape and Trim Ends
  5. Punch a hole in the center about ¾” from the top.Punch Hole at Top Center
  6. Cut your floss, ribbon, yarn, or twine into seven inch lengths. The number of lengths is up to you. I used twelve lengths of embroidery floss. Fold the lengths in half.Fold 7in Lengths of Floss in Half
  7. Pass the loop through the hole in the bookmark.Pass Loop of Floss through Bookmark Hole
  8. Then, pass the ends through the loop, and gently snug up the knot.Pass Ends through Loop
  9. If you use embroidery floss, you can fluff the end by brushing with a toothbrush while holding the loop to relieve tension on the bookmark hole.Brush Floss Ends with Toothbrush
  10. Now you’re ready to grab a good book and read.Back to School Confetti Bookmark (Instagram)
