In this easy Halloween bow tutorial, Sandy Sandler, creator of the Bowdabra®, shows you how to combine several simple bow-making techniques to create a big, full, designer-looking spooky Halloween bow without using a huge amount of ribbon!

The mix of ghost ribbon, skeleton and skull ribbon, and bold Halloween stripes gives this bow tons of personality and fullness. The finished bow would look fantastic on a Halloween wreath, door swag, lantern, centerpiece, or other spooky seasonal décor.

Materials:

2.5 yards – 2.5” wide wired Ghost ribbon

2.5 yards – 2.5” wide wired Skeleton ribbon

1.5 yards – 7591.60/10-613 #7591 Nantucket Ribbon 2-1/2” wide Black

1.5 yards – 7591.40/10-613 #7591 Nantucket Ribbon 1-1/2” wide Black

Bowdabra

Bowdabra Bow Wire

Instructions:

First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire.  Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side.  This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.

Next, using the deco mesh place in the Bowdabra and make a two loop bow.  Then add some ghost print ribbon tails in an “X” style pattern. Place one length of ribbon facing up and cross over another length of ribbon facing down making and “X”

Next, make a funky style bow with the ghost print ribbon. To do this fold lengths of ribbon in half with a loop on one side and two tails on the other like an awareness ribbon. Then, place them in the Bowdabra alternating the sides of loops and tails. Repeat with another funky style bow.

Now, lay in two tails of the striped ribbon in the “X’ style again.

Next, with the skull print ribbon create a shoelace bow. Find the center of the ribbon and scrunch it right side down into the Bowdabra.  Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down. Repeat these steps with the striped ribbon to make another shoelace bow.

Finally make a button loop with the last piece of skull ribbon.

Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.  Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot.  Tie a double knot for extra security. Shape all the loops and tails.

You have the best spooky halloween bow and it was a cynch to create with the Bowdabra!
