Hey everyone! It’s Joette from the Bowdabra Design Team. Today I’m sharing how to create an inexpensive autumn door swag using an orange mini Christmas tree as the base—no hot glue needed and made on a budget.
Materials:
* 3 ft. orange mini Christmas tree
* Fall foliage bush with berries and pumpkins
* Single pumpkin pick
* Fall leaf foliage bush
* Long, linear pumpkin pick
* 2 sunflower bushes
* 2 orange mum bushes
* 3 yards of 2.5-inch wired fall pumpkin truck ribbon
* 2 yards of 2.5-inch non-wired black Whimsy Ribbon — Morex Ribbon 7397, 2.5” x 50 yd., Black, Product ID: 349314416
* 1 yard of 1.5” x 50 yd. Fall Fest wired ribbon, Orange/Gold
* Large Bowdabra
* Bowdabra Bow Wire
Instructions:
First, cut an extra-long piece of Bowdabra bow wire since we are adding a lot of florals. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, begin laying in all the fall foliage. Now, cut a length of a fall print ribbon and place it in the Bowdabra for the tails.
Using the same print ribbon, create a half-funky bow. To do this, place about 1 inch overhand of another length of the same print ribbon, twist, and leave a loop on one side and a tail on the other for a 1/2 funky bow. Repeat for the other side.
Now, make a shoelace bow with some more of the fall print ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half to find the center and scrunch it down into the Bowdabra. Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down.
Next, add a pumpkin pick. Make another shoelace bow with the sheer black ribbon and another one with the orange ribbon. Using a scrap piece of ribbon, place it in the Bowdabra and make a button loop.
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Finally, take the orange tree, arrange the branches, and make the back flat. Lay it down and tie it to the large pick you just made.
To finish, attach some scrap ribbon pieces throughout the branches of the tree. Then add some leaves, picks, and florals to the branches of the tree by using the wires. And you have a beautiful and inexpensive autumn door swag with no hot glue needed!
