How to make a unique rustic star – Bowdabra Christmas craft

Hey everyone! It’s Christmas in July and a great time to get your holiday projects completed before the holiday rush! It’s Lisa from The Rustic Vine and the Bowdabra® Design Team! Today I’m sharing this unique Rustic Star Decor that’s easy to make, budget-friendly, and perfect for adding cozy farmhouse charm to your holiday decorating. Let’s get started! 🎀⭐🎄

Supplies:

  • Wooden star
  • Wrapping paper
  • Bells
  • Greenery of your choice
  • Fabric or ribbon
  • Wooden house cutout
  • Mod Podge
  • Jute
  • Wooden beads
  • Twine or Bowdabra Bow Wire
  • Large Bowdabra®

Instructions:

First, spread some ModPodge onto a wooden star form.  Let it dry. Using some paper of your choice, trace around the star and cut it out.

Next, lay the paper onto the star and put some parchment paper on top, and iron it on the star.  This will reconstitute the ModPodge.

Begin embellishing the star with greenery, bells, and a mini wooden house form, gluing on to secure.

Make the bow:

Cut a length of Bowdabra bow wire and fold it in half.  Place it in the Bowdabra for a slipknot. (You may alternatively use some folded jute)

Now start adding torn pieces of fabric to the Bowdabra. Shape the bow as you go. Then thread the loose wires through the loop and pull tight. Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back, and tie a knot.

Shape the bow and glue it to the prepared rustic star. To finish, glue some jute for a hanger and embellish it with some beads.
