Hi everyone! It’s Joette from the Bowdabra® Design Team! Today, I’m sharing how to create this perfect Door Swag for Christmas in July using the Bowdabra®. The best part? No hot glue needed! Let’s get started!
Materials:
• Large Bowdabra®
• Bowdabra® Bow Wire
• 2 yds of 10” wide coordinating deco mesh
• 1 tinsel garland stem/pick
• 2 Christmas greenery stems/picks
• 2 flocked berry stems/picks
• 2 small holly bushes
• 3 large poinsettia stems/picks
• 3½ yds of 2½” wide wired red ribbon with silver snowflakes
• 2½ yds of 2½” wide wired black and red checked ribbon with flocked edges
• 1½ yds of 2½” wide wired red and white striped ribbon
Optional:
• Zip tie (to attach to the back for hanging, if desired)
Instructions:
First, cut an extra-long piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, lay the wide deco mesh in the Bowdabra and fold it back and forth, making large loops. Make two loops on each side, ending with a circle.
Bend the end of a tinsel garland pick and place it in the Bowdabra.
Add some evergreen picks at the top and the bottom. Lay in some berry branches, one at the top and one at the bottom.
Now, build the sides by adding some holly bushes. Place some candy cane pics and poinsettia bushes as shown.
Build the bow:
Next, place a length of 2 1/2″ wide wired ribbon in the Bowdabra for the tails.
Using some more of the same ribbon, find the center and place it in the Bowdabra right side down. Bring one across, then bring the other end across and scrunch down. (shoelace bow)
Place a length of flocked-edge checked ribbon to add another tail. Then repeat the steps for a shoelace bow with another length of the same ribbon. Add another shoe bow with the striped ribbon. Finish with a button loop with the last piece of ribbon.
Now reach under all the florals, ribbon, and greenery and grab the loose wires. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Arrange and fluff out the beautiful door swag to a pleasing shape.
