Hi everyone! Catharine from Pretty Palace Porches here! In this easy video tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a bright and cheerful Watermelon Bow with the Bowdabra bow maker.

It’s perfect for adding a fun summer touch to wreaths, signs, door décor, and more. Let’s get started!

Materials Needed

Bowdabra® Bow Wire
• Watermelon Door Sign

Ribbon Supplies

(All ribbon used in this project is wired.)
• 3 yards of 2½-inch pink and white plaid ribbon
• 2 yards of 2½-inch pink sparkle ribbon
• 1 yard of 1½-inch green sparkle striped ribbon
• 1½ yards of 2½-inch watermelon print ribbon
• 1½ yards of 1-inch hot pink satin ribbon

Instructions:

First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire.  Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side.  This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.

Next, using the checked gingham ribbon, create a twist and fold bow. To make a twist and fold bow, Scrunch in the ribbon, then bring the ribbon across and scrunch down, twist, and repeat.  Continue making loops back and forth, twisting and scrunching down into the Bowdabra.  Make sure the wrong sides are always on the inside of the bow. Make three loops on each side with a tail.

Now, add a sparkly pink ribbon piece for a tail. Using this same ribbon, create another fold and twist bow with two loops on each side. place in a small piece of watermelon ribbon.

Next, repeat the fold and twist method with the green striped ribbon, leaving a tail at the beginning. Make two loops in total. Add another watermelon ribbon strip. Now, repeat the steps for a twist and fold bow with the longest piece of watermelon ribbon, making four loops in total.

Add a strip of checked gingham ribbon. Now, use the 1″ wide pink satin ribbon to make a twist and fold bow with three loops on each side.

Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.  Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot.  Tie a double knot for extra security.

Fluff and arrange the bow. Use this gorgeous watermelon bow on wreaths, plaques, gifts, and so much more!
