Hi, I’m Joette from the Bowdabra Design Team! Today, I’m showing you how to create the perfect lantern swag using the Bowdabra®. The best part? No hot glue is necessary! This project comes together quickly and easily, making it great for patriotic decorating all season long.
Supplies Needed
• Medium lantern
• 2 stems of ficus leaves
• Dollar Store pansy bush
• Linear filler floral bush
• 2 stems of Queen Anne’s lace
• 2 stems of dahlias or mums
• Hydrangea head or stem
• 2.5–3 yards of 2.5” wide wired patriotic ribbon
• Bowdabra® Bow Wire
• Large Bowdabra®
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, add some foliage, noting that there is a top and a bottom of the swag.
Then, add a floral bush, which you fold in half and place in the Bowdabra with the flowers on both sides. Now, add some linear flowers. Add some various flowers in red, white, and blue colors.
Add a pre-dovetailed piece of patriotic ribbon for the tails. Next, make a fold and twist bow. Starting with an inch overhang, begin making loops, twist, and fold across. Continue in this manner until you have as many loops as you desire. Make sure the wrong side of the ribbon is on the inside of the loops.
Thread the loose wires through the loops and pull tight while the swag is still in the Bowdabra. Remove, and turn to the back and tie several knots. Fluff and arrange for a perfect lantern swag!
