This super simple project is perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or any time you want to add a handmade touch to a gift. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned crafter, this bow is easy, fun, and takes just minutes to make.

Materials:

Bowdabra

Bowdabra Bow Wire

Cut strips of assorted, pre-dovetailed scrap ribbons measuring 6 to 8 inches long.

Use ribbons in various widths: 1.5 inches, 2.5 inches, and 3.5 inches

1 yd – 1.5” wide of any matching wired ribbon

1/2 yd – 7/8” wide any matching wired ribbon

To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold.

Instructions:

First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire.  Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side.  This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.

Next, find the center of the pre-dovetailed ribbon strips and place them into the Bowdabra. Vary the ribbon scraps and shape the bow as you add them.

Now, using the longer piece of ribbon, make a multi-loop twist and fold bow. Scrunch in the ribbon, then bring the ribbon across and scrunch down, twist, and repeat.  Continue making loops back and forth, twisting and scrunching down into the Bowdabra.  Make sure the wrong sides are always on the inside of the bow.

Next, find the center of a 7/8” wide piece of ribbon and scrunch it down into the Bowdabra.  Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down.

Scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.  Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot.  Tie a double knot for extra security.

Shape and arrange this simple scrap bow, and you will be ready for birthdays, holidays, and any gift occasion!
