Hi everyone! Joette here from the Bowdabra Design Team! In today’s tutorial, we’re bringing some festive cheer with our Christmas in July DIY Candy Cane wreath! Let’s get crafting and spread that holiday spirit!
Materials:
Candy Cane Wreath Form
2.5” wide ribbon for wrapping the form
1.5” wide wired ribbon
Bowdabra Scrunchy Ribbon
Berry picks
Bowdabra Bow Wire
Large Bowdabra
Instructions:
Prepare the candy cane wreath form:
First, wrap some ribbon all around a wire candy cane wreath form. Next, cut a length of Bowdabra bow wire and fold it in half. Place it in the Bowdabra for your slipknot.
Working with the Bowdabra, noting one side is the top side and the other the bottom side, place some berry picks on both sides.
Using about 20 inches of 1 1/2″ wide wired ribbon, place in the center of the Bowdabra and make a shoelace bow. Scrunch it down into the Bowdabra. Now bring one side across and scrunch down, then bring the other side across and scrunch down. Repeat this with another length of the same ribbon. Make the loops the same size with the tails facing opposite directions.
Next, taking lengths of the same ribbon, make a one-loop bow, but place it in the Bowdabra with about a half inch overhang, making a loop and a tail. Repeat this with several more pieces of ribbon.
Finally, use a piece of Bowdabra silver scrunchy ribbon and insert it from the top, and scrunch it down like an accordion. Optionally, you can add a floral bush in the center.
Scrunch everything down with the Bowabra wand, thread the loose wires through the loop, and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove, turn to the back, and tie a knot and a double knot.
Fluff and arrange the bow. Use the excess wire to tie the bow to the DIY candy cane wreath.
