How to Make a Thanksgiving Wreath with Fun Material

The secret, fun ingredient for this Thanksgiving wreath are the jumbo chenille stems!! Chenille stems—also known as pipe cleaners—aren’t the first thing that come to mind when creating a bow. But check it out!! They’re unique and easy to work with. Try them as you create this Thanksgiving wreath.

Here’s the supplies you’ll need:

• 27″ length 1″ stain patterned ribbon
• Four 20″ jumbo chenille stems
• Three 12″ regular chenille stems
• 6 yd. length raffia ribbon
• One 1″ pompom
• Bowdabra Bow Making & Design Tool
• 18″ length Bowdabra bow wire
• One wooden floral wreath
• Thankful graphic
• Hot glue

Let’s make the Thanksgiving wreath:

1. Fold bow wire in half and put it in the Bowdabra. Tuck the ends of the wire under the Bowdabra to keep them out of the way.
2. Layer the satin and raffia ribbons in the Bowdabra, beginning with the satin ribbon.
3. Cut the jumbo chenille stems in half.
4. Coil the chenille stems around a large knitting needle, dowel rod, or skewer. Gently pull in the ends of the curled stems to expand them a bit.
5. Add the jumbo chenille stems to the Bowdabra, then add the regular ones.
6. Compress the ribbons with the wand.
7. With the ribbons still in the Bowdabra, pass the wire ends through the loop and tighten. Tie a knot on the reverse side. Leave the wire ends long for attaching the bow to the wreath.
8. Fluff the bow and make adjustment to individual loops or coils.
9. Print the “Thankful” graphic and cut out. Use hot glue to secure the graphic to the back of the wreath.
10. Hot glue the pompom to the center of the bow.
11. Use the long wire ends to tie the bow to the Thanksgiving wreath.
