How to make the best fall sunflower spiky hair bow

Sunflowers are a staple of fall, and this lovely sunflower ribbon is just calling out to be transformed into a beautiful hair bow. With the Bowdabra, it’s like having an extra pair of hands, turning you into a pro at bow making! You’ll want to craft several to share as thoughtful gifts!

Materials:

Mini Bowdabra
Bowdabra Hair Bow Tool and Ruler
Bowdabra Bow Wire (18″)
Sunflower Ribbon (1″ x 6″)
Sunflower Ribbon (1″ x 14″)
Thin Brown Ribbon (1/4″ x 3 1/2″) (x2)
Thin Brown Ribbon (1/4″ x 7″)
Scissors
Lighter

Instructions:

First, take the Hair Bow Tool and Ruler and just slip that over the Mini Bowdabra. Next, take some Bowdabra Bow Wire, fold it in half, and lay that down into the Mini Bowdabra.

Now take a 5-inch piece of ribbon that has already been dovetailed, and scrunch it in the middle. Use the tool and ruler to make sure both sides are even. Make sure you seal the dovetailed ends by running a lighter over them.

Next, take a long piece of the sunflower ribbon and place it into the bowdabra with the right side facing down. Take the other end of the ribbon and bring it across and scrunch it into the Bowdabra. Now, find the middle and scrunch the ribbon down. No sewing needed!

Now cut three strips of grosgrain ribbon and dovetail the ends. Find the centers and place them in the Mini Bowdabra. Scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.

Thread the loose bow wires through the loop and pull tight while the Bow is still in Bowdabra.  Remove the bow, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot.

Finishing your spike sunflower hair bow

Now, because the wire is gold and it kind of matches the fall look, you don’t have to finish it, but for a more finished look, use a glue gun to wrap some thin ribbon around the hair bow. Clip the wire and use some more glue to attach the spiky sunflower hair bow to a hair clip or elastic.
