It’s Christmas in July – How to Make an easy Angel Ornament

It’s Christmas in July, and let’s make an easy angel ornament using lace, bead and a Bowdabra bow! You won’t believe how easy it is to make!

Supplies:

How To:

Since the lace is rather thin, draw four circles using a 4″ circular item such as a lid or small plate and cut out.
Glue two lace circles together and let them dry.
Next, fold one circle in half and glue around a portion of the center to the edge and close together evenly.
Then take a six-inch strip of bow wire, folding in half, and inserting the ends into the top of the bead, down and out of the bead.

Lay one lace circle open and place the edge of the folded lace circle in the middle. Run a bead of glue from the top center down, following the length of the bow wire, making sure the bottom of the bead (head) is placed at the top edge of the lace and the string is over the glue.

Then fold the lace over to close, pressing down to secure the lace and glue.

To Make the Wings:

Cut an 18″ piece of Bowdabra bow wire, and fold it in half. Lay the folded bow wire in the Mini Bowdabra, tucking the loop and ends under.

Cut an 8″ piece of wired ribbon. Dovetail the ends by folding the ends together and cutting at an angle from the fold up to the corner tip.

Then, crease the center of the dovetailed ribbon and place it down into the Mini Bowdabra.
Next, leave the ribbon on the roll and crease about an inch from the end of the ribbon and insert it down into the Mini Bowdabra. Then fold over a three-inch loop and press down into the Mini Bowdabra.

Fold the ribbon to make a matching loop on the opposite side, down into the Mini Bowdabra.

Scrunch the loops down using the Mini Bowdabra wand and cut off excess ribbon.
Remove the Mini Bowdabra wand and thread the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop, pulling tightly and gently pulling it out.
Take the bow wire around to the back of the bow, tying the wire in two or three tight knots, and cutting off excess wire.
Glue the Bowdabra bow to the center back, just below the pearl head, for the angel wings. Then glue on a folded scrap of ribbon for a decorative tie look just below the beaded head.
How cool and adorable is this!
