Getting Crafty: How to Make a Crayon Wreath with Bowdabra

Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here with the perfect gift for the special teacher in your child’s life.  Using a wood pallet and 4 boxes of Crayola crayons, create a crayon wreath and finish with a lovely Bowdabra bow.

Supplies:

Bowdabra Bow Maker
Bowdabra Bow Wire
Ribbons
Crayola Crayons
Wood Pallet
Metal Word

Instructions:

First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half, and insert it into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side.  This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.

Next, cut a length of gold-edged ribbon approximately 12″ long and place it in the Bowdabra.
Start creating the bow.

Selecting a gold patterned ribbon, place it in the Bowdara.
Create loops by passing the ribbon through the channel, twirling it on each turn.

Continue making loops, twisting the ribbon as it passes through the channel.

Continue in this manner until you have the desired number of loops.
I created 3 loops on each side of the channel.
Use the bow wand to push the ribbon into the channel.

I created a smaller bow on top of the larger bow in the same manner.

Because the bow was getting thicker, I again used the bow wand to push the ribbons into the channel.

Pull up on the bow wire, threading the ends through the loop.
Pull tight and tie off.

Fluff up the loops.

Create the wreath by placing crayons around a circular pallet.
Lightly draw a circle in the center of the wooden pallet and glue on the crayons.
Once the first layer of crayons is glued, add a second layer to “fill in” the gaps.
Allow the wreath to fully dry before proceeding.

Next, adhere the metal sign along the bottom of the wreath.

Glue the bow to the crayons.
Dovetail the edges of the ribbon ends and re-fluff out the bow.

Thanks for stopping by.
