Ready to summon your inner mad scientist, and craft a dazzling Halloween snow globe? With just a few simple ingredients—water, glycerin, and glitter—you’ll create a bewitching scene that shimmers every time you shake it. Let’s dive into the eerie elegance of this hands-on project!
Gather These Materials:
- Empty, plastic snow globe (I found mine at a dollar store.)
- Distilled or filtered water
- Clear glycerin (available at craft stores or online)
- Halloween-themed glitter (think orange, black, purple)
- Small waterproof figurines or spooky miniatures (pumpkins, skeletons, bats)
- Strong waterproof adhesive or hot glue gun
- Double sided tape
- Ribbon for decorating the lid
Let’s Make a Halloween Snow Globe:
- Create Your Scene: Secure your figurines and miniatures on the snow globe platform that comes with the snow globe using strong adhesive or a hot glue. I selected a variety of miniature pumpkins. Let it cure fully so it won’t budge when shaken.

- Mix the “Potion”: Fill the jar almost to the top with distilled water. You need to allow space for your Halloween scene. Stir in 1–2 teaspoons of glycerin to slow the glitter’s fall—this gives that ethereal, drifting effect.
- Add the Glitter: Sprinkle in about ¼ to ½ teaspoon of glitter into the water/glycerin mix. For extra fun, you can mix-and-match your glitter colors.

- Decorate the Lid: Secure a length of ribbon around the lid with double-sided tape.

- Seal It Up: Apply a bead of waterproof adhesive around the inside rim of the lid, then twist it on tightly. Wipe away any excess glue.

- Final Flip and Shake: Turn the snow globe over, give it a shake, and watch your mini tableau fill with swirling spectral sparkles.
- Show Off Your Creation: Once your snow globe is complete, display it on a mantel, your Halloween party table, or give it as a spectral gift.
