Veterans Day remembrance

Veterans day 3

Did you know that Veterans was once called Armistice Day? The following link outlines a brief history of the day we now know as Veteran’s Day.

Veterans Day not to be confused with Memorial Day was formerly known as Armistice Day. It  began to honor the end of World war I which ended on November 11, 1918.

In 1954 Armistice Day was changed to Veteran’s Day in remembrance of those who served in the military in wartime and peacetime.

Another interesting fact about Veterans Day is that there is no apostrophe in  Veterans Day.  According to the Department of Veterans affairs there is no apostrophe at the end of Veterans because it is not a day that “belongs” to Veterans but it is a day that honors all Veterans.
