Create a back-to-school time capsule for capturing memories to look back on at the end of the school year. These time capsules are especially meaningful for those milestone school years—kindergarten, first grade, transitions from elementary to middle school, and middle school to high school. Adapt it for the high schooler by creating the capsule at the beginning of the freshmen year, and save the opening until graduation day.
Supplies for the time capsule:
- Container for the capsule—almost anything works as long as it is sealable
- Back to School Time Capsule Questions
- Time Capsule Labels
- Double sided tape
Let’s make it:
- Download and print the Back to School Time Capsule Questions. Cut the questions apart, and answer each one. Fold them and drop them into the time capsule.

- Complete some or all of the additional activities listed with the questions. These include tracing hand and foot prints, measuring height, creating artwork, and including a recent photo.

- Now it’s time to label it. You can create your own label or print one from the Time Capsule Labels. A 3″ x 3″ label works well with a quart Mason jar.

- Attach the label with double-sided tape.

- Place the time capsule in a place of honor, awaiting the reopening on the last day of school.
