What could be more fun for a young artist than making a St. Patrick’s leprechaun from a toilet paper roll?!? This project was totally conceived, planned, and executed by Anya, my eleven year old granddaughter. But, I did take the photos :)
Supplies for the toilet paper roll leprechaun:
- 2½” x 5½” piece of green patterned paper
- 2½” x 5½” piece of cream colored paper
- 2″ x 2″ piece of green cardstock
- 5″ x 3″ piece of black fun foam or cardstock (Anya used fun foam)
- 2″ x 5½: piece of black fun foam or cardstock (Anya used fun foam)
- Orange pompoms
- Small tam pompom
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue or liquid craft glue (Anya used hot glue)
- Hat and Clover Template
Let’s make the leprechaun:
- Glue the cream colored paper to the toilet roll aligning the long edge of the paper to one end of the roll.
- Glue the green patterned paper to the other end of the toilet roll.
- This is what you’ll have after these two papers are in place.
- Print and cut out the patterns from the Hat and Clover Template. Trace the clover onto the green cardstock, and cut it out. Glue it to the center of the shirt.
- Trace the patterns for the hat brim and top of the hat onto the 5″ x 3″ piece of fun foam, and cut out the shapes.
- Glue the hat brim to the top of the toilet roll.
- Form a tube from the 2″ x 5½” piece of fun foam, and glue the seam.
- Glue the top of the hat to one end of the fun foam tube.
- Glue the hat to the brim.
- Glue orange pompoms in place for the beard.
- Glue the tan pompom and googly eyes in place for his face.
- Enjoy your fun toilet paper roll leprechaun!!
