Hi, I’m Joette from the Bowdabra Design Team with another ‘Tip From The Florist’ for you! Do you ever find yourself so busy, that you end up trying to find a thoughtful gift at the last minute? This DIY candy bouquet is the perfect Valentine’s Day gift!
If you have a flower shop in your grocery store, you’ll probably see candy bouquets & snack packs lining the shelves in the floral shop and seasonal departments. You can make one quick and easy and personalize it for the giftee. Let’s get started…
Canning Jar with Ring
Minimum 6 candy boxes, bars or cookie packages, or even snack-size chip bags
Packing tape
Skewer sticks
Stick balloon
2 – 2”-3” slices of a pool noodle or floral foam
Basket shred
Treat bag
Roll of Mylar/Foil wrapping paper – Cut squares off the roll, approximately 18″x18″
Very small stuffed animal
A couple of handfuls of loose candy-like Kisses
2 – 6”-8” strips of 2.5” wide ribbon for the ruffle/scrunchy bows
4 – 16” strips of pre-dovetailed ribbon for the funky bow. And 1 – 10”-12” strips for the button loop.
First, secure the skewer sticks to the backs of the cookies. Next, place a treat bag in the jar and add some paper shreds. Place a small stuffed animal down in the jar.
Next, add a pool noodle or floral foam wrapped with the mylar in the jar on top of the small stuffed animal. Add some more shreds. Now, begin arranging the cookies and treats sticking them into the pool noodle or floral foam. Fan them out in a pleasing arrangement.
Add a small stick balloon in the center.
Cut some Bowdabra bow wire fold it in half and place it in the Bowdabra. This will be your slip knot. Take some ribbon and scrunch in the Bowdabra from the top like an accordion. Do this twice to make two scrunchy bows. Tie them on the balloon stick.
Now make the funky bow. Take four strips of 8-inch ribbon that have pre-dovetailed. Add some Bowabra bow wire folded in half as you did with the scrunchy bows. Now fold and place the ribbons in awareness ribbon style making sure you alternate loops and tails. Finish with a small button loop.
Thread the wire through the loops and pull tight, remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Fluff and shape the bow and then tie it to the front of the jar. You have the perfect Valentine’s Day gift!
