In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to use the Bowdabra bowmaker to create a breathtaking Fall lantern swag. Follow along as Bowdabra creator, Sandy Sandler crafts a seasonal masterpiece.
So, let’s get started:
Floral greenery
Pumpkin Pick
Floral rose
Floral magnolia
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, lay in some floral greenery, followed by the pumpkin pick.
Now, lay in the floral rose facing one direction and repeat this step with the magnolia facing the opposite direction.
Then, repeat this by adding some greenery facing opposite directions.
Next, lay in a piece of fall ribbon on which the ends have been curled in lieu of dovetailing and lay it in the Bowdabra.
Now, using a longer piece of fall ribbon place in the Bowdabra, twist and fold across to make loops, making sure the right side is always facing, up. Keep folding and twisting to make loops until you reach the end of the ribbon. Finish with a smaller button loop in the center.
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security. The Bowdabra wire makes it so easy!
Fluff out and arrange all the florals and bow loops.
Use the excess bow wire to tie the swag to the top of a large lantern. You have a beautiful spectacular lantern swag that you can add to your choice of lantern and the best part is that you created it in just minutes!
