Hi, I’m Lisa with The Rustic Vine for the Bowdabra Design Team! In this quick Bowdabra tutorial, I’ll show you how to create charming farmhouse decor using a simple dollar-store bottle cap tin. Let’s get started and add a rustic touch to your home!
Materials:
Bottle cap tin
Napkin of choice
White paint
Brown paint
Modpodge
Cinnamon
Fabric or ribbon of choice for bow
Button
Bowdabra
Twine or Bowdabra Bow Wire
Instructions:
First, prepare the napkin of choice by pulling all the plies apart. Next, paint the bottle cap tin with white paint and let it dry.
Place the napkin in the center of the bottle cap tin and measure around to fit. Tear all the edges with your fingers for a deckle edging.
Next, brush some ModPodge all around the inside of the tin. Lay the napkin piece on top and smooth it around. Wrinkles are fine since they add to the look. Add some more ModPodge to the top to seal it.
Now brush some brown paint all around the edges and sprinkle with some cinnamon for a rusty look. Add the jute hanger back to the bottle cap tin.
Make the bow:
Cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire fold it in half and lay it in the Bowdabra. (You can alternately use twine.
Now, begin placing in the fabric strips or ribbon and making loops back and forth. When your bow is as large as you want, pull the wire through the loops and pull tight. Remove the bow from the Bowdabra, turn to the back, and tie a knot.
Add a button or other embellishment to the center of the bow and attach it to the top of the bottle cap tin with some hot glue.
