How to Make the Perfect Autumn Napkin Ring with Glittered Acorns
Celebrate autumn with an adorable napkin ring featuring glittered acorns. They make the perfect addition to your fall table settings.
Here are the supplies that you’ll need:
Toilet paper roll
24″ length 6″ tulle
Acorns
Glitter
Twine or narrow ribbon
ModPodge
Artist’s paintbrush
Hot glue
Craft knife or scissors
Easy to make napkin ring. Let’s get started:
If you gathered your acorns from nature, consider freezing them overnight to kill any bugs that may be in the acorns. When you’re ready to glitter the acorns, let them come up to room temperature.
Measure and mark a cut line on the toilet roll 1¼” to 1½” from the end.
Cut along the measured line with scissors or a craft knife. Set this aside for now.
First, coat the acorn (don’t include the cap) with ModPodge.
Next, while the ModPodge is still wet, generously coat the acorn with glitter. Also, work over a tray or piece of paper so you can reclaim the excess glitter.
Then, set the acorns aside to dry.
While the acorns are drying, we’ll cover the section of toilet paper roll. I’ve used tulle, but you can also wrap the section with yarn, ribbon, or chenille stems—the steps are still the same.
With your fingers gather the 6″ end of the tulle.
Now, use some hot glue the gathered end to the inside of the toilet roll. Note: Take necessary precautions. Hot glue is HOT. However, liquid glue works just as well—just clamp the glued tulle in place and let it dry thoroughly before moving on to the next step.
Wrap the gathered tulle around the toilet roll, slightly overlapping the wraps as you work your way around the roll.
Finishing the fall napkin ring
Hot glue the end of the tulle to the inside of the roll. Or, use liquid glue, clamp the tulle in place, and let it dry thoroughly.
Next, make a small bow using twine or a narrow ribbon. Hot glue it in place on the napkin ring.
Then hot glue the glittered acorns on top of the bow.
Ta-da!! You’ve done it. You made a glittered acorn napkin ring!
