Hi! I’m Lexi from the Bowdabra Design Team, and today we’re going to be upgrading a Dollar Tree fall sign with a Mini Bowdabra bow for a back-to-school teacher’s gift idea.
The sign says “Happy Fall,” and we’re going to add a beautiful bow to give it a nice finishing touch. This is a super easy and budget-friendly project that will help you create a thoughtful and personalized gift for your teacher. Let’s get started!
Sign
12”-14” piece of 1” wide matching ribbon
4 matching cotton blend crafting loops, white and yellow
Wooden Bead
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, cut a length of ribbon and dovetail the ends. To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold. Find the center and lay the ribbon in the Mini Bowdabra right side down.
Now, bring one side of the ribbon across to make a loop and leave a tail. Repeat with the other side of the ribbon making sure the right side is facing up.
Next, using white cotton crafting loops place one loop in the Mini Bowdabra and repeat with a second loop. Repeat this step with yellow cotton crafting loops.
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security. The Bowdabra wire makes it so easy!
Add a wooden bead using the bow wire. Fluff and shape your bow.
Attach the bow to the sign by stapling, gluing, or using the excess bow wire to tie it on. This adorable teacher’s gift idea was so easy and will be so appreciated by any teacher!
