Hi there! I’m Lisa from The Rustic Vine, and I’m thrilled to be sharing this project with you as part of the Bowdabra Design Team. Today, I’ll be walking you through how to create an easy and adorable Goodwill upcycled cutting board that can be enjoyed all year long. We’ll be giving it the perfect finishing touch by adorning it with a beautiful Mini Bowdabra Bow. Let’s dive in!
Cutting board
Brown Paint or stain
Paintbrush
Bird Stamp
Black or brown stamp pad
Popsicle stick for stamping branches
Ripped fabric or ribbon
Bowdabra
Bowdabra wire
Wood heart
Jute
Sweet Annie or any greenery of choice
First, using some brown acrylic paint, stain the entire cutting board. Add some white paint to allow the images (if included in your cutting board) will show up. Then add some more brown paint around all the edges. If desired stamp some images to add interest to the board.
Cut a piece of jute or Bowdabra bow wire and fold it in half. Place it in the Bowdabra. This will be your slip knot.
Next, Place some greenery on each side of the Bowdabra. Then use some strips of ripped drop cloth to make your bow. Begin by placing it in the Bowdabra, and make loops back and forth until you have three loops on each side. Repeat this step with a gingham ribbon.
Thread the jute ends or wires through the loops and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove and turn to the back and tie a knot and double knot.
Fluff and arrange the bow and then use a staple gun to staple it to the upcycled cutting board. Add a drop cloth strip to the top for hanging. Add mini hearts to some jute. (optional)
