Hi! I’m Lexi from the Bowdabra Design team. For this super fun Christmas in July craft, we’re making an adorable recycled bead ornament. It’s a really easy project that kids can do and the best part is, there’s no messy glitter involved!
These beaded ornaments make such a cute keepsake. They’re perfect for hanging on your tree, giving as gifts, or even just displaying around the house.
I can’t wait to show you how to make these easy DIY Christmas in July ornaments. They’re a great way to get creative and have some festive fun, even in the middle of summer!
Materials:
9 assorted colors of corker ribbons
Clear ornament
Beads
Instructions:
First, remove the top from a clear plastic ornament. Then cut the beads from an old necklace, and fill the ornament with the beads. Then place the top back on the ornament.
Optionally, place a sticker on the outside of the ornament. This is a great way to personalize the ornament.
Make the bow
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, add the corker pieces of ribbon. We are using 3 different colors. Find the center of the corker and scrunch down into the Mini Bowdabra.
Now, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Mini Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Using the excess wires, thread them through the ornament hanger. Tie a knot and double knot. Then, bring the wires together about 2-3 inches above the ornament and tie a knot. This will create a hanger to hang the ornament. Clip off the excess bow wire.
Optionally add extra stickers for more personalization. You have an adorable recycled bead ornament. Why not make several of these ornaments for gifts when the holidays come around? they make perfect gift package decorations for two gifts in one!
