Hey, I’m Lexi from the Bowdabra team, and I’m going to show you how to make a fun and festive hair bow. These hair bows are perfect for kids to make, but even the older folks can get in on the fun. All you need are a few basic supplies, and you can create awesome hair accessories that’ll get you into the festive spirit. Let’s dive in!
16” Pre-dovetailed 1.5” wide festive ribbon
24” Pre-dovetailed 1.5” wide matching festive ribbon
Bead
Ponytail holder
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your festive hair bow.
Next, lay in a 16″ long piece of pre-dovetailed ribbon for the tails. To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold.
Now, take the longer piece of matching ribbon and place the end in the Bowdabra. Twist and fold to make a loop and repeat on the opposite side. Now take the remaining ribbon across and circle it over the Bowdabra. Scrunch down the center.
Next, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Now bring the wire ends back to the front of the hair bow. Thread the wires through a bead in opposite directions. Guide the wires back to the back and tie a knot.
To finish, tie the excess wires to a ponytail holder and clip off the excess. Fluff and shape your festive hair bow.
