Let’s take this 99-cent thrift flip and make it our own! Use a thrift store cutting board and easily make it new again in a few simple steps.
First, lightly sand your surface, in this case, a cutting board.
Next, hand-paint your picture. Paint the bottom half with green paint dipping in the middle to represent hills. Paint the top half yellow and follow it by going over it with white paint in circular motions. When dry sand everything. Turn to the back and brush on some umber paint for a stained look. Then, with some red paint, paint a block on the right side. Use some paint markers to outline your barn and add windows and doors.
Now, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Using some muslin pieces, or fabric of your choice place them in the Bowdabra. If you want tails place them in first, then lay in the fabric and make loops back and forth till your bow is the size you want.
Next, thread the loose wires through the loop and pull tight. Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Use the excess wire to tie the bow to the top of your cutting board.
Fluff and arrange your bow and add some extra embellishments to the center if desired. Stamp a saying at the bottom, and add a fabric hanger to the top. Add some clear wax to seal and display your upcycled cutting board.
