Hey there! I’m Lexi, from the Bowdabra Design Team. Today, we’re going to create a repurposed wall hanger! It’s a clever way to use a wall hanger or shelf leaner from a different season, giving your decor multiple uses.
The best part is that you don’t have to pack the seasonal wall hanger away when the season ends. Just flip it over! This versatile project is perfect for sprucing up your home and making fantastic gifts. This craft is suitable for both kids and adults, making it a fantastic activity for everyone to enjoy! Let’s get started!
Materials:
Wall Hanger/Shelf Leaner
1 yd of 3” wide burlap
1.5 yards of 2.5” wide wired ribbon
Bits and pieces of filler flowers from a bush or pick
Large Bowdabra
Bowdabra Bow Wire
Instructions
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, take some burlap ribbon and lay it in the Bowdabra leaving about a 2-inch tail. Then begin folding and twisting to form a bow.
In between making the loops for the bow, add some filler flowers. Continue making loops till you have two loops on each side and two 2-inch tails.
Make the ribbon bow
Now, use the flower ribbon to make a twist and fold ribbon bow. Place the ribbon in the Bowdabra right side down and twist and fold till you have two loops on each side. Finish with a small button loop on the top.
Next, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Fluff and shape the bow and clip off the excess wires. Use a small amount of hot glue to attach your bow to the back of the hanger. Turn the repurposed wall hanger around for each season. Wouldn’t this make a wonderful dual-purpose gift? You could make one for spring and turn to the back to display a patriotic-themed bow.
