Craft the perfect spring or summer door swag with our detailed Bowdabra tutorial! In this video, Sandy Sandler, the creator of the Bowdabra Bowmaker, walks you through each step of creating a vibrant and beautiful door swag that’s perfect for the warmer seasons.
Materials:
1.5 yards Deco Mesh
3 yards Bubble Dots-Yellow 2.5”
2 yards Spring Cabana Stripes-Yellow 1.5”
3 yards Bumblebees-Natural 1.5”
2 Blooming Branch Bushes (Yellow Forsythia)
Long hanging foliage stem/bush
Hydrangea stem/pick
Bow Wire Bowdabra
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, roll the mesh under so that the fraying is hidden and scrunch in the Bowdabra. Now, lay in the hanging foliage. Repeat with the other greenery and forsythia. Shape it as you go. Lay in the hydrangea flower.
Make the bow
Lay in the 1.5” wide bumblebee ribbon in the Bowdabra which you have dovetailed the ends. Now, scrunch in the yellow dot ribbon, twist, and fold to make loops back and forth making sure the right side of the ribbon is facing out.
Repeat this step with the yellow striped ribbon. Do the same with the 1.5-inch bumble bee ribbon. Finish with a button loop making it half the size of the previous loops.
Now, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
To finish, fluff and shape all the loops and florals. You have a beautiful door swag that you can enjoy all through the spring and summer seasons.
