Hey there! I’m Lexi from the Bowdabra Design Team. Today, I’m super excited to show you how to make a festive gift bow with scrap ribbon. This craft is super easy and perfect for both kids and adults. So, get ready to unleash your creativity and add a touch of magic to your gifts with this simple DIY project. Let’s dive right in!
2 – 2.5” pieces of 7” long, pre-dovetailed wired Burlap ribbon
3 – 1.5” pieces of 5” long, pre-dovetailed wired Twinkle ribbon
8” long piece of 2.5” wide, wired Gleam ribbon
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Mini Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, place in two strips of burlap ribbon which you have already dovetailed the ends. To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold. Continue this step by adding three twinkle ribbon strips. Scrunch everything down.
Now, insert some gold gleam ribbon from the tops and scrunch down from the top like an accordion.
Finally, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Fluff and arrange your festive gift bow by pulling the ribbons apart and fluffing the scrunchy bow center. Attach the bow to a gift bag or package! This bow would even be as adorable as a hair bow by attaching it to a hair clip or hair elastic. Isn’t it amazing you made this adorable bow with just some scrap ribbon?
