Hi! I’m Brandy, of A Rustic Stitch for the Bowdabra Design Team. Today, I’ve got a super fun project to share with you. We’re going to create my version of a jumping rustic bunny that’s been making waves lately. I added a unique twist by using a paper bag on the surface of the rustic bunny for texture and repurposing some glittery eggs from Dollar Tree. Get ready for some creative fun as we bring this adorable bunny to life. Let’s hop right into it!
Rabbit cut out
Paper bag
Paint: white chalk paint
Distress Ink: Antique Linen, Vintage Photo
Floral foam
Green moss
Bamboo skewer
Jute twine
Mini eggs
Tag that says “HOP”
Bow: drop cloth, cheesecloth, Jute ribbon
First, prepare the bunny by taking off any extra decorations. Then use a paper bag to give the bunny some texture by crinkling up the bag. Use tacky glue to attach the crinkled paper bag to the bunny. Cut off all the excess paper around the bunny and repeat on the other side.
Next, use some chalk paint to paint the bunny and the tray. Then, use some distress ink on the bunny. Repeat on the opposite side. Use some distressing ink on the tray as well.
Now, glue some floral foam on the inside of the tray and top with some moss. Next, take a painted bamboo skewer and attach it to the bunny. Wind some twine around the skewer and then stick the bunny into the floral foam/moss.
Fold some twine in half and place it in the Bowdabra. This will be your slip knot. Now, use some strips of dropcloth to lay in the Bowdabra. Make a loop on one side and a matching loop on the other side. Keep making loops this way with the rest of the dropcloth strips, then repeat with some cheesecloth strips.
Thread the loose twine through the loops and pull tight. Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Fluff and arrange the bow and use some hot glue to attach the bow to the skewer under the bunny’s belly.
Make another bow in the same way and attach it to the opposite side of the bunny since both sides are visible.
Prepare the mini glitter eggs by dry brushing with some chalk paint, then using glue wrap some twine around each egg. Glue the eggs in randomly in the moss.
Optionally, stamp “Hop” on two tags and glue them to the bows on the front of the rustic bunny decor.
