Welcome to this DIY tutorial with Sandy Sandler, the creator of the Bowdabra bow maker. Sandy shows you the easy steps to make this beautiful watering can floral arrangement, a perfect addition to your home décor or as a thoughtful gift. So let’s get started!
Watering can
Four assorted Dollar tree floral bushes
Greenery bush from dollar tree
Peony stem
Hydrangea stem
Lavender Emelia ribbon: 14” tails, 20” bow, 6” scrunchy center
Lime gingham ribbon: 11” tails, 35” bow
Orchid Sweetness ribbon: 25” both bow and tails
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, lay in your floral bushes all facing the same direction. Now take the Bowdabra wand and scrunch everything down. Then, thread the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bouquet is still in the Bowdabra. Take it out of the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot and double knot. Fluff everything out and set aside.
Now, cut another piece of Bow wire, fold it in half and tuck the ends underneath.
Lay in the tails – Emilia ribbon, and Lime gingham ribbon. Next, take the lavender Emilia ribbon lay the right side down in the Bowdabra, bring it across, and lay the other side down. Push down in the center and you have a two-loop bow.
Next, take the lime green gingham ribbon and lay it in the Bowdabra. Twist so the right side is facing up and make a loop. Continue this way till the end of the ribbon.
Now take the lavender sweetness ribbon and lay the wrong side down, then bring the right side across to create a small tail. Repeat with the opposite side. Finally take the smallest piece of Lavender Emilia ribbon and scrunch down from the top for a small scrunchy style bow center.
Thread the wires through the bow wire slip knot and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove and turn to the back and tie a knot and double knot.
To finish, place your bouquet in the watering can pulling the flowers to adjust. Fluff out the bow and tie it to the watering can handle. Clip all the excess ends. Fluff and arrange as desired and you have a lovely floral arrangement you can use all spring and summer!
