How to make a beautiful Mardi Gras mask

Supplies Needed for this Project:

Plastic Mardi Gras Mask
Mini Bowdabra
Plaid Folk Art Metallic Paint (Gold)
Plaid Folk Art Extreme Glitter (Gold)
Dew Drops by Robins Nest (Blue)
Skewer painted with Plaid Color Shift (Green)
Super Glue
Glitter Ribbon 3/8 in. wide each in blue, gold, and purple
Bowdabra Wire
Brushes
Scissors
Feathers
Cup of Water to rinse brushes

Instructions:

Begin your project by painting your mask with the Plaid Folk Art Metallic Gold Paint. It may take two coats to cover completely. Once the first paint is dry, paint on a coat of the Plaid Folk Art Extreme Glitter in Gold. The extreme glitter has glitter in the paint so you don’t have to worry about having a glitter mess to clean up. You then need to glue your Robins Nest Dew Drops to your mask to brighten it up a bit.

Once the mask part is finished, paint a skewer with Plaid Color Shift Green paint.

Make the Bow

Now, add the crowning jewel of this project, the bow! For this part of the project start by setting the Mini Bowdabra out and taking a good portion of the Bowdabra wire, folding it in half, and inserting it into the Mini Bowdabra. Just tuck the ends of the wire underneath the Mini Bowdabra so that they will be out of the way while you are making your bow.

Put your feathers into the Mini Bowdabra first. For this project, the feathers were all inserted into the Mini Bowdabra going in the same direction on the left side of the tool.

Start with your gold ribbon. The ribbon length is 46 in. total but you want to leave an 11-in. tail, twist and make your first loop, twist and make the second loop, twist and make the third, twist and make the fourth, twist and leave a tail that is 11 in. on the other side. Use the wand and scrunch your ribbon down.

Repeat the same process for your purple ribbon, making sure that you have left 11 in. tails at the start and finish of your bows. Don’t forget to use the wand to scrunch your ribbon down!

And lastly do the same with your blue ribbon. You should have two loops of each color, gold, purple, and blue on each side of your Mini Bowdabra plus a tail of each color on either side of the Mini Bowdabra. The wand is probably needed to do a final scrunch of the ribbons.

Finishing your Mardi Gras mask

Pull out the wire and put the loose ends of the wire through the loop on the other end and tighten. Bring your wire around to the back and tie a good knot. Then take that wire that is left and tie your skewer to the bow.  Gather your ribbon and feathers in your hand and put the glue on the back of the mask. Attach the mask to your ribbon and skewer, and hold on to them until the glue sets up.

Fluff out your ribbon until it reaches a pleasant bow with streamers and feathers. This cute  Mardi Gras mask is ready to go to !
