How to make the most beautiful DIY hoop wreath with an elegant Bowdabra bow

DIY hoop wreath

Want to make something different in wreath decor? This DIY hoop wreath is easy and so lovely!  It’s an easy way to make a bold and unique statement using wood hoops, greenery, and a gorgeous Bowdabra bow

Materials:
Instructions:

Let’s begin by gluing two wood hoops together at the center top using hot glue. Plain wood hoops are available from Amazon or you can remove the solid hoop from embroidery hoops, too.

Attach greenery using floral wire or hot glue on each side of the hoops.

Once the greenery is attached, it’s time to make the bow using the Bowdabra!  Fold a 20″ length of bow wire in half and place it in the Bowdabra, tucking ends under. This length will be enough to make a loop to hang your wreath!

Add the Bowdabra bow

Next, leave the ribbon on the roll and crease about an inch from the end of the ribbon and insert it down into the Bowdabra.

Then fold over a five-inch loop, twist, and press into the Bowdabra.

Fold and twist the ribbon to make a matching loop on the opposite side, down into the Bowdabra.

Check to make sure the loops are the same length (5″) by holding them up against the Bowdabra tower – which is five inches tall.

Then make two more loops on either side for a total of four loops.  Scrunch all the loops down using the Bowdabra wand.

Cut off the excess ribbon with scissors.

Add another patterned ribbon using the same steps as before to make five-inch loops .  .  .

adding four more loops to the bow.

To finish the bow, make a button loop to cover the bow wire, then scrunch all the loops down with the Bowdabra wand and cut off the excess ribbon.

While the bow is in the Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop, pulling tightly and tie in a knot at the back, gently pulling it out.

finishing and adding your bow

Originally, I didn’t add ribbon tails thinking the greenery would be enough hanging down, but as an afterthought, decided to add the ribbon tails which is so easy to do after the bow is made. Just cut two 20″ strips of ribbon in each pattern, Fold them in half to find the center, and squeeze them together laying the ribbon against the back of the bow and tying them together using the bow wire from the bow.

Dovetail the ends by folding the ribbon together and cutting at an angle from the bottom corner tip up to the fold. Then fluff the bow and straighten the tails.

Tie the bow to the hoop using the bow wire. Make a hanging loop by wrapping the bow wire over and over each other until reaching the end.  Make a loop with the overlapped bow wire, securing the ends of the loop to the wood hoop.

How adorable is this wood hoop wreath adorned with a gorgeous Bowdabra bow? This DIY hoop wreath is adorable to decorate any wall or door!
