Are you that person on Christmas morning or at birthday parties saving the bows and loose ribbons from the trash bag? If you have a Bowdabra, using up those scrap pieces of ribbon is so easy! You can create bows and much much, like this beautiful Winter Lantern Swag!
Supplies for this swag:
1 – 24”x 2.5” wide silver gleam ribbon
2 – 12”x2” wide silver/mesh/glitter ribbon
2 small pieces of cedar foliage
1 Dollars Store Berry Bush cut up
2 stems cut off from a Dollar Store silver glitter eucalyptus bush
1 filler flower sprig
1 small Hydrangea head (from a pick)
Bowdabra Bow Wire
Large Bowdabra
Optional: Clip-on bird
1 Small to medium size lantern
First cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, place the cedar picks in the Bowdabra, one on each side. Then place in some Eucalyptus picks and berries.
Make the bow
Now, take a 24″ piece of ribbon, scrunch it in the middle and lay it in the Bowdabra. Bring one end back over to form a bow. Then, place two 12″ ribbons in the Bowdabra one on each side in the funky bow style. (loop on one side and tails on the other) Scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.
Add some more flowers, picks, and pieces.
Insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security. Fluff and shape your bow. Use the bow wire to attach to the top of your lantern.
Add the optional bird to the top of the lantern. You have a beautiful upcycled Bowdabra lantern swag.
