Can you believe it? You can make a gorgeous stand up floral arrangement without any foam! And you don’t even need to use a vase! Bowdabra makes it super easy! Watch as Bowdabra creator, Sandy Sandler demonstrates the simple steps in this DIY video.
Cymbidium Orchid stem from Hobby Lobby
Flat Christmas fern greenery leaf
Optional Floral tape
60 inches of the 2.5”W gold gleam ribbon
Glitter sheer ribbon
First cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, lay in a small piece of gleam ribbon and plaid ribbon on which you have already dovetailed the ends.
Now, double a longer length of gleam ribbon and plaid ribbon, insert into the Bowdabra and fold and twist to make loops back and forth making sure the right side if facing up. Scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand.
Then, take a small piece of glitter sheer ribbon and place in the Bowdara. Now, take the longer piece of glitter sheer ribbon and begin folding and twisting to make loops. End with a small loop in the center. (button loop)
Scrunch everything down in the Bowdabra with the wand. Insert the loose wire through the loop and pull tight for the slipknot while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove from the Bowdabra, separate the ends and turn to the back and tie a knot. Fluff and arrange the loops on your bow.
Finally, take your floral stem and wrap it with floral tape. Attach the fern pick to the orchid. Twist the stem tightly around to form a circle shape that will stand on its own. Attach the bow with the excess wire to the bottom of the floral arrangement. There you have it a self-standing floral arrangement with no vase, no floral foam, super easy!!
