Part three of May the Fourth be with you wedding – flower girl halo

May the fourth wedding series

We are making the flower girl’s halo for this portion of the May the fourth wedding series. We will be using the Mini Bowdabra for this project. There are not going to be any Light Sabers in this project, as these pieces are just wearable, matching accessories. The flower girl halo will not have the bow on the back like the traditional ones. I was given an inspiration photo from Pinterest (picked out by the Bride) to use and to create something similar, using her colors. They key to this pattern, since they are bulky pieces, was to keep them compact. And to consistently match each little floral bundle set made, as you attach it  to the wrapped wire.

Halo pro-tips for May the fourth wedding series

Also, you will want to make sure you’re securing the little Mini Bowdabra bundles extra tight, so that there’s nothing rolling around on the wrapped wire and needing to constantly be readjusted or reshaped. The beauty of making the halos with this method is that there’s no floral taping or hot gluing! Also, you can make these halos in half the time of the florist version, by floral taping. They will turn out the same way! You ALWAYS want to hide your mechanics/work when you’re  make anything especially for pieces that will be worn.

If you follow the video instructions, your mechanics will be completely hidden! One more tip…Make sure to get a good measurement of the child’s head, because you don’t want to make it too small or too large.

All though this tutorial says it for a Star Wars themed wedding, you can apply this technique to any occasion! You can also use this pattern and leave it opened for a over-the-shoulder corsage, or only make 1-3 bundles and use it for a pin-on corsage, wristlet corsage and move this technique up to the large Bowdabra and use larger greenery and flowers to create a garland!

The opportunities are endless once you master these mechanics! There’s no right or wrong way to may these pieces, as long as you are securing the foundation properly. Be creative and custom make these pieces to match your own event.

*Note: The supplies listed will make at least  2 of these halos. There will most likely be some leftovers. Use them in the corsages & boutonnières, don’t waste them! You will be snipping bits and pieces from the bushes & garland as needed to make the halos sections. Not all pieces are equal. That’s why you’re snipping the pieces off and placing them into the Mini Bowdabra, to customize them and making them ook equal. Don’t forget to leave a 1” overhang on the little snippets as you place them down in the Mini Bowdabra!
