How to make an easy Bowdabra Valentine’s Day Wreath
Supplies:
- 1 – 24” Heart-shaped garland wreath
- 2 – Red tulip bushes
- Two Monkey grass bushes
- 2 – different prints/colors of 2” wide ribbon
- 3 x 30” and 3 x 35” strips of each
- Three different prints/colors of 1” wide ribbons… 3 x 30” and 3 x 35” strips of each
- Additional 1” wide strip of ribbon 1 x 30”
- 4 – long stem Valentine’s Day picks
- 4 – Decorative matching loose hearts
- Optional, Feather Stems
- Zip ties
- Large Bowdabra
- Optional, Hot Glue
Instructions:
First, attach the Valentine sign to the heart wreath. Then, place a zip tie down in the Large Bowdabra. Add the greenery bush & then the blooming bush.
Next, add the long stem Valentine picks and any other filler you may have chosen to use. Now start building the ‘Funky Style’ bow.
Make the funky bow
Each strip of ribbon will be one loop, with 2 tails. Alternate the loops. Use the 2” wide ribbon on the bottom half and then start working the next three 1” wide colors into the bow. Once this is complete, use a zip tie to attach the bow bundle up real tight. Dovetail the bow tails.
To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle away from the fold.
Now, repeat this same procedure one more time, but make the tails of the bow longer this time. Once both swags/bow bundles are finished, attach them to the wreath. Use the smaller piece for the top. We placed ours on the top left side with a slight angle. The large piece was placed at the bottom on top of the heart.
Not shown in the video, we used a 30” strip on a 1” wide ribbon & made a streamer going down the left side of the heart. Attach it with small zip ties. Add some plaid pillow hearts for embellishment and attach them to the bow centers and to the side streamer with hot glue.
