How to make a patriotic buffet napkin basket
Materials:
- Bowdabra
- Bowdabra bow wire
- Basket
- Patriotic plaid ribbon, 2 ½” x 27”
- Red gingham ribbon 1 ½” x 27”
- Wired burlap ribbon 1 ½” x 27”
- Color sheet plaid ribbon 2 ½” x 84”
- Red gingham ribbon 1 ½” x 61”
- Burlap ribbon 1 ½” x 28”
- Red gingham ribbon 1 ½” x 7”
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the ends under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, take the plaid 27” ribbon, which you have already dovetailed the ends, and lay it into the Bowdabra. (To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle towards the fold.)
Now, take the red gingham 27” red gingham ribbon and lay it into the Bowdabra. Then, take the wired burlap ribbon and insert that into the Bowdabra.
Next, taking the 84” length of plaid ribbon twist and insert the right side down into the Bowdabra. Fold and twist back and forth making matching loops on each side. Now, take the 61” length of red gingham check ribbon and place the wrong side down in the Bowdabra. Twist and fold making loops on each side making slightly smaller loops than the previous ribbon.
Add the burlap ribbon
Now, take the 28” length of the burlap ribbon and insert it into the Bowdabra twisting and folding to make even smaller loops than the previous.
Finally, take the smallest length of red gingham ribbon and insert it into the Bowdara vertically pushing and scrunching down.
Finishing your napkin basket
Now scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back, and tie a knot. Tie a double knot for extra security.
Adjust and arrange the bow on your napkin basket. Use the excess wire to attach the bow.
