How to beautify a Dollar store with ribbon scraps
Materials:
- Bowdabra bow maker
- Bowdabra bow wire
- Assorted ribbon
- Various leftover picks or feathers
- Scraps of grosgrain ribbon
- Dollar store hat
- Longer piece of ribbon to tie around hat
Instructions:
First, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Then, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. This will serve as your slipknot. Tuck the end under to stay out of the way while you are making your bow.
Next, begin adding ribbon pieces that you have already dovetailed to the ends. (To dovetail, fold the ribbon in half and cut at an angle towards the fold.)
Then, add some leftover picks directly into the Bowdabra. Now, add another piece of dovetailed ribbon.
Next, take a long scrap of ribbon and place it in the Bowdabra with the right side down. Come back over and across and insert the opposite right side down. Then scrunch down in the middle for a bow. Now, add some more picks or feathers.
Now, take a scrap of grosgrain ribbon and insert it right side down into the Bowdabra come across and insert the opposite end, and scrunch down in the middle. Repeat with the second piece of grosgrain ribbon.
Add the bow to your dollar store hat
Finally, insert a piece of ribbon into the Bowdabra and push it down like an accordion.
Now, scrunch everything down with the Bowdabra wand. Then, insert the loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Then, remove the bow from the Bowdabra, separate the ends, turn to the back and tie a knot. Tie a double know for extra security.
To finish, use the excess wire from the bow to tie it to the hatband (ribbon) and double knot it. Clip the extra wire. Shape and arrange the bow.
