Help the environment by recycling and let kids have fun at the same time by making a jump rope out of plastic bags.
Supplies Needed:
To make a jump rope, take 18 plastic bags and smooth out each one to lay flat. Be sure to tuck the gussets inside.
Cut off the top with the handles.
Then, cut the bottom seams off including the side gussets so that the bags will lay straight.
To connect the bags, open the cut-off plastic bags to form a loop. Lay one loop down on the right, and another loop on top of that one on the left.
Then take the end of the loop on the right over and in between the end of the loop on the left . . .
Pushing the same loop end under
and out to the right . . .
slowly pulling both the left side loop with your left-hand while
pulling the right side loop to make a knot in the center.
Connect six plastic bags this way to make one braiding section. Do the other 12 bags the same way for two more braid sections for a total of three.
Group the three sections together and tape them down to the work surface.
Begin braiding the sections together . . .
until reaching the end.
Then wrap the ends with duct tape for the handles.
Have fun jumping rope and exercising!
