Hi everyone, Steph Ackerman here today sharing how to decorate thrift store jars for Valentine’s Day with the help of the Bowdabra.
I love perusing the thrift stores to see what items I can pick up to create with and these jars were no exception.
Supplies:
Bowdabra Bow Making Tool
Bow Wire
LA Ribbon
After etching the jars with etching creme to create a Valentine’s Day theme, I selected the ribbons I wanted to use.
I cut the bow wire and placed it under the Bowdabra while working on my bows.
Cutting a 6″ length of the pink ribbon, I placed it in the channel.
Then I started creating a small bow using red ribbon.
Because I wanted a small bow, I created 3 small loops, twisting the ribbon on each pass through the Bowdabra.
Pulling up on the bow wire, I removed the bow and tied it off.
Pulling the bow wire to the back of the ribbon I tied it again.
Then I fluffed up the loops and dovetailed the edges of the pink ribbon. (To dovetail fold the ribbon and cut at an angle towards the fold)
I tied the ribbons to the jars, leaving one without a bow so you could see the design on the jar. Then I filled the jars with assorted sweetheart candies and chocolate balls.
Aren’t they sweet? Isn’t this a great way to decorate thrift store jars for Valentine’s Day? They are also easy to make and something you can do with children, just add stickers to the jars instead of using etching creme.
Thanks for stopping by.
Steph
