In this quick video, DIY Sandy Sandler shows you how to get the whole family involved as you craft this amazing paper ornament. Make the ornament in all colors and when Christmas rolls around you can decorate an entire tree for pennies!
First, prepare your construction paper strips. Punch a hole at the ends of each strip. Line the strips up so that the longest pieces are on the ends, then second longest, and finally the shortest pieces in the middle. Attach the first brad through the tops of all the pieces.
Next, take the second brad and put it through all the holes in the bottom of the strips graduating the sizes as you go. Close the brad and you have this cute paper ornament shape.
Take a piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half and insert it into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other. This will serve as your slipknot.
Now, place one piece of ribbon into the Bowdabra. (tail)
Next, Insert another piece of ribbon into the Bowdabra and begin making loops back and forth until you have made the bow as large as you want.
Then, add the other two dovetail ribbon strips. Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
Finally, insert the two loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Remove from the Bowdabra, turn to the back and tie a knot. Fluff and arrange your bow. Use the excess wire to attach to the paper ornament. Tie another knot in the wire to make a loop for hanging.
