Mother’s Day Gift Basket
Materials
2-inch wide green celebration ribbon (28 inches long – 3 pieces
2 inch wide yellow celebration ribbon (28 inches long – 2 pieces; 34 inches long -1 piece)
Scissors
Bin or basket
Tissue Paper
Rubber band
Plastic Wrap
Perfect items for your gift basket (I chose Lysol wipes, OdoBan, Sanitizer, Dial Soap, Antibacterial Softsoap, Wipes)
Preparing Your gift Basket
I like to use newspaper or plain paper to help lift the items up higher in my basket. Next, I place a few pieces of tissue paper over the white paper and let the tissue paper hang over the end. Next place all of your items in your bin or gift basket making sure everything is visible.
Unravel your plastic wrap and place your gift basket in the center. Make sure you have enough plastic wrap to cover the entire basket. I like to tuck the plastic sticking out of the sides to the back so it isn’t visible. Next, use a rubber band to hold the plastic together at the top of the basket. I like to have a decent amount of plastic sticking out at the top.
Making Your Bow
Placing the Bow Wire
The first thing I do is fold the bow wire in half and place it in the center of the Bowdabra. I will be using about 9-10 inches of bow wire.
Adding your Tails
First, take your 34-inch piece of ribbon and fold it in half to find the center. Scrunch the ribbon at the center crease. I prefer a uniform scrunch: fold the ribbon in half, bring the front and back up and scrunch it. Repeat this step with the 28-inch piece of ribbon. This will make 4 tails. If you want more tails, then you can add more pieces or less. It’s completely up to you.
Adding your Loops to your bow
Take one of your 28 inch long pieces and fold it in half to find the center. Next, take one end of the ribbon and scrunch it in place. Make a loop and scrunch the other end. Find the center and scrunch one more time. Use your wand to scrunch everything together.
Repeat this step with the other 3 pieces of ribbon. I chose to use 4 pieces but if you prefer more or less, then adjust accordingly.
Tying the Wire
Once you’ve added your loops, give it one final scrunch. Then take the bow wire, the two open ends inside of the loop. Hold the bow in place and give it a nice tug. Then remove it from the Bowdabra. Tie it in a knot a few more times just to make sure it’s nice and secure.
Add the bow to your gift
Do not cut the excess bow wire. Leave it in place because this will help you easily tie it to the top of the gift. I prefer to tie it in a bow so that the bow is removable and reusable. Your mother can open the basket without destroying the bow.
Curling the Tails
Once you have the bow in place, adjust your tails. You can leave them how they are or you can give them an extra curl. To do so, you just take your scissors and firmly press then along the back of the ribbon. The firmer you press, the curlier the ribbon will be. I repeated this step for all four tails.
And you are all done. It looks so cute and precious and it’s the perfect thoughtful gift. You can add just about anything to your basket whether it’s healthy snacks or anything else your mother may love. Just have fun with it and make it your own.
