Make a Gorgeous Valentine’s Day Wreath with Bowdabra
Hey everyone! I’m Simply Shalese, here to make something awesome with you guys! Today we will be making a fun and easy Valentine’s day wreath bow using the Bowdabra bow maker. This bow is perfect for any Valentine’s Day Wreath. Let’s get started!
Valentine’s Day Wreath
Materials:
1 1/2 in wide red sheer wire-edged ribbon (12inch long pieces; 18 inch long pieces)
1 in wide burlap ribbon (12inch long pieces; 18 inch long pieces)
7/8 in wide gold wire-edged ribbon (12inch long pieces; 18 inch long pieces)
7/8 in wide gold printed ribbon (12inch long pieces; 18 inch long pieces)
Scissors
Placing the Bow Wire for your wreath bow
The first thing I do is fold my bow wire in half and place it in the center of the Bowdabra. I usually use about 14 inches or so. You can use more or less, just make sure you have enough to easily tie it at the end.
Adding the Spikes
The 12inch long pieces will serve as my spikes and the 18inch long pieces will serve as my loops. You can cut the spikes shorter if you chose to do so.
Fold your piece of ribbon in half to find the center. Then scrunch the ribbon by folding the ribbon in half and folding the front and back up and place it down.
You can add as many spikes and loops as you’d like. It just depends on how large and loopy you want your bow. I cut two to three pieces of each style of ribbon but the amount you use is completely up to you. Repeat this step for a few spikes. I chose to place one of each of the four pieces of ribbon down first, just to lay my foundation. Afterwards, I’ll start mixing up the loops and spikes.
Adding the Loops
Fold your piece of ribbon in half to find the center. Pick one end and scrunch the ribbon by folding the ribbon in half and folding the front and back up and place it down. Then I’m going to make a loop and scrunch the other side. Find my center crease, scrunch one more time and place it down onto the Bowdabra.
Don’t forget to use your wand to help scrunch everything together. Add as many or as few loops and spikes as you’d like. This is your chance to have fun with it and just make it your own
Tying the Bow Wire
Give your bow one last scrunch and while the wand is in place you can adjust the bow as much as you’d like. Then remove the wand and bring the bow wire together. Bring the two open ends inside the looped end. While one hand is holding the bow in place, use the other hand to pull the bow wire taut. Then carefully remove the bow. Tie the bow wire in several knots.
If you plan on tying the bow to a wreath like I did, then it’s easier to leave the bow wire attached. You also have the option of cutting away the excess wire.
Adjusting the Valentine’s Day Wreath Bow
Most of the ribbon I used was wire-edged because you’re able to manipulate and maneuver the bow more. You do have the choice of using ribbon that isn’t wire-edged but you won’t be able to manipulate it as easy.
Adding the Finishing Touch to your wreath
Take the end of your ribbon and fold it in half. Place the fold at the top and the open ends at the bottom and cut at a diagonal. If you chose, you can skip this step and just leave the spikes squared off.
